Jays softball reaches regional championship game
By Mark Jurgena, Advocate Sports Staff
Since our last update on the Greenville Jr. High girls softball team, the Jays have gone 7-1 to raise their record to 14-2 on the season.
They played last night for the Class 2A Gillespie Regional championship against Staunton. However, results from the contest were unavailable at press time.
On Sept. 3, the Terriers gave Greenville only their second loss of the season as they lost in Greenville 8-2.
For the Jays, Paige Knebel had two hits with Mya Neely, Nova Roeder and Savanna Reeves smacking the others.
Neely was in the circle for the Jays.
Two days later Greenville beat Hillsboro 10-3 at home with Knebel and Clare Glisson collecting two hits each. Knebel doubled and Glisson tripled. Both had a pair of RBI in the contest.
Neely, Roeder, and Elyse Spratt all had hits.
Reeves, Spratt and Gabi Hahs had an RBI.
Neely was again in the circle striking out 10 hitters.
