Panther cross country women have good showing to start season

 The Greenville University women’s cross country team had a solid showing at the ninth annual Hy-Vee Prairie Stars Invitational in Springfield on Sept. 6.

     GU’s Gretchen Carie took 14th place out of over 100 runners with a time of 19:23.81.

     She finished 0.19 seconds behind Maryville, Mo. runner Mallorie Metzger for the next spot on the leaderboard.

     Panther Norah Swinigan took 42nd place with a 20:38.85 while Chloe Aubuschon ran a 21:26.52 good for the 53rd spot.

     Raven Vance came in with a time of 22:08.71 for the 62nd spot while Alivia Clayton was 64th with a 22:15.46.

     Emily Bohn ran a 23:21.94 and Vanessa Compton ran a 23:27.14.

     Maddie Miller of the host school, the University of Illinois-Springfield, won the women’s 5k race with a time of 18:28.10.

    UIS won the team title with 30 points while Truman State and Maryville took second and third respectively.

    Greenville finished in fifth place out of the 10-team field with 168 points.

Upcoming Schedule 

     Greenville returns to action on Sept. 20 at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria.
