Henderson to play basketball for Blue Angels

Class of 2024 Greenville High School graduate Shayna Henderson has announced her plans to play basketball down the road at Kaskaskia College in Centralia beginning this upcoming school year.

“It’s not really something I pictured myself doing,” she began. “Not that I didn’t see it as a goal in my future, it’s just that I didn’t think realistically it would happen. So it’s nice to have the opportunity to play and maybe step up in the ranks. Even though it is a JUCO I feel like it will put me past some people in experience.

“I’m just excited to go get better and play better competition.”

Henderson picked KC for a couple of reasons. She wanted to have both a good fit for her basketball endeavors as well as her chosen career path.

She found her basketball component for college in new Kaskaskia coach Perry Michael.

“It’s a big coaching thing for me,” she started. “I wasn’t going to play unless I found a coach that was going to actually work for me as a player and who would make me a better player. I could feel that energy coming off of him and they were being honest with me with their intentions.
