On June 17, GHS squared off with Raymond (Lincolnwood) and Nokomis.
The Lady Comets beat Lincolnwood by over 30 points.
“The Lincolnwood game we were able to clean up the defensive rotations and our defense was able to create some offense,” said GHS coach Paul Waitkoss. “I have put in a few new offensive sets and we will have a little bit of hesitation at first, but I am confident they will catch on quickly.”
In their other contest, they were beaten by Nokomis.
“We played well,” Waitkoss said. “Nokomis came out and buried us early knocking down some 3’s, rotations were slow and Nokomis did a great job passing the ball and were able to knock down some shots. We played them even in the second half.”
On June 22, GHS was at SIUE where according to Waitkoss they went 5-2.
“I believe we were able to control the tempo of our games on defense throughout the shootout and that helped generate some offense for us,” said Waitkoss. “We have been able to get many open looks, but we are searching for some consistent scoring and I’m confident that will come in time.
