Liberty Christian hosts Steve Ladd

Steve Ladd, a well-known, award-winning recording gospel singer, traveled from Tennesee to hold a concert at the Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown on Sunday evening, Aug. 24.
Ladd sang and spoke to an appreciative audience of all ages. His 11-year-old son, Hayyden, accompanied him and operated the sound. Hayden also sings with his father sometimes.
The Rev. Jim Dann, pastor of Liberty Christian Church, welcomed those present, many of whom traveled from other towns for the concert.
Mary Ann Doehring, a member of the church who invited Ladd for the concert, introduced him.
Ladd welcomed local people to join him in singing, and he invited a 10-year-old boy, Jesse Ritchey III of Vandalia, to sing with him.
Michelle Weaver of Vandalia joined him in a duet, “Master of the Wind.”
Tammy Carson of the Brownstown-Sefton area accompanied him on the piano as he sang.
Ladd holds the attention of both young and old as he talks and sings with sincerity and honesty.
Among other songs of praise, Ladd sang his “testimony” song, which he also refers to as his signature song,  “Preach the Word.”
He closed his concert, invited all present to join him singing an old gospel favorite, “I’ll Fly Away.”
