Merritt named youth pastor at Northside

Northside Christian Church in Vandalia has hired Keith Merritt of Savannah, Ga., as a full-time youth minister.

Merritt, who has 10 years of experience in youth ministry, most recently worked with Salt Light Student Ministries at the Coastal Community Christian Church in Savannah.
He started his ministry career attending the Adventures in Missions (AIM) program through the Sunset Bible Institute, where he became a missionary apprentice working with the youth program at Sunrise Church of Christ in San Diego, Calif.
After graduation from the AIM program, he went to Oklahoma Christian University to complete his degree in biblical studies, with a minor concentration on missions.
Merritt also has created several community outreach programs, including the Kingdom Fitness program, integrating faith and fitness, and teaching exercise and boot camp classes. Through those classes, he has attempted to provide an atmosphere of positive change – both physically and spiritually.
Some of his other interests include writing and performing slam poetry, watching and playing sports, and cooking. His favorite show is Duck Dynasty, and he is interested in hunting and fishing.
Most of all, he said, he is excited to be a part of the family at Northside Christian Church, and to minister to the youth of Vandalia.
