Variety of YMCA programs are open for registration

The Family YMCA of Fayette County are several programs currently open for registration.

The YMCA will be hosting a Parents' Night Out program for children ages 5-12 on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Registration cost is $10 and $5 for siblings, and will begin at 5:15. Parents may pre-regsiter at the YMCA.

The event will run from 5:30-9:30 p.m., and the YMCA will be offering open gyms, games, face painting, movies and a concession stand.

A Nerf play zone will be also be set up in the gym. Children must bring their own Nerf gun and bullets with their name written on them.

Santa Claus will also make an appearance from 5:30-6 p.m., and will be available for pictures, which cost $5.

Each child will wear an emergency bracelet and a bank will be provided to safeguard money.

An adult co-ed volleyball league is forming at the YMCA.

Registration is $100 per team, which can include up to 10 people who are at least 18 years old or have graduated from high school.

The registration deadline is Dec. 3, and games will begin on Monday, Dec. 10, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The length of the season will be decided after the registration deadline.

A legal team is required to be on the court at all times.

For a four-person team, one player must be female; for a five-person team, two players must be female; and for a six-person team, three players must be female.

Teams will officiate the games themselves.

The YMCA youth basketball league will begin in January, with games to be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Registration cost is $25 for members and $50 for non-members, and the registration deadline is Dec. 15. Late registration will incur a $20 fee.

No new participants will be accepted after the Dec. 18 coaches’ meetings.

Each participant who registers by Dec. 15 will receive a T-shirt to be worn during the league.

The league will be divided into two groups, with grades 1-2 playing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. and grades 3-5 playing on Saturday mornings at 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Games will be played in the YMCA gym from January-March.

Any parent who wants to serve as a head coach should indicate that on the registration form. The grades 1-2 coaches’ meeting is from 6-7 p.m, and the grades 3-5 meeting is from 7-8 p.m.

Head coaches will have the registration fee for their child waived.

A kindergarten basketball clinic will be offered at the YMCA on Saturdays in January and February.

Registration cost is $20 for members and $40 for non-members, and the registration deadline is Dec. 15. Late registration will incur a $20 fee.

Each participant who registers by Dec. 15 will receive a T-shirt to be worn during the clinic.

Players must be attending kindergarten, and the clinic will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Saturdays January 12, 19 and 26, and February 2, 9 and 16.

Volunteers are needed for the clinic and interested parents should indicate that they want to volunteer on the registration form.
