Rotary raises most money at YMCA event

Four organizations raised more than $1,000 in the Family YMCA of Fayette County’s Free-Throw-Athon at the end of October.

The Vandalia Rotary Club raised the most money, with $1,476. Money was raised by individuals on each team receiving pledges for each of the 100 free throws they attempted.

Others which broke the $1,000 threshold were the Dee Dee Hartz Memorial ($1,447), Hillsboro Jr. High basketball ($1,137) and YMCA Fitness ($1,009).

Organizations raising more than $500 were ABATE ($917) and Mother of Dolars Catholic Church ($622). Several other organizations also participated.

Individuals who won $10 gift cards to Subway for the highest percentage of made shots were:

•Over 18: Shelby Cearlock and Dave Barth, 89 percent.
•Ages 13-18: Bailey Cearlock, 41 percent.
•Under 12: Evan Springman, 46 percent.
