Registration open for fall sports at the YMCA

The Family YMCA of Fayette County has opened registration for several fall youth sports.

Flag football

Children in grades 2-4 may sign up for the YMCA's flag football program, with the first games to be played on or after Sept. 13.

Registration cost for the program is $35 for members and $70 for nonmembers, and the deadline to register is Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. A late registration fee of $20 will be added from Aug. 26-30.

All players will receive a T-shirt that will serve as their uniform and a mouthpiece.

A coaches' meeting will be held on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. in the YMCA multi-purpose room. Those interested in becoming a coach should contact Program Director Amber Daulbaugh at 283-1258 or [email protected].

A skills clinic will be held on Aug. 27-28 from 6-8 p.m. at the YMCA, and all participants are encouraged to attend.

Co-ed volleyball clinic

Boys and girls in grades 3-8 may sign up for a volleyball clinic to be held on Saturdays in September and October.

Registration cost is $25 for members and $50 for nonmembers, and the deadline to register is Aug. 25 at 5 p.m.

All players who register before the deadline will receive a T-shirt, but late registrants will not.

Knee pads will not be provided but are strongly recommended.

The clinic will be held on Saturday mornings from Sept. 15-Oct. 27.

Two age groups will be determined after registration, with the younger group participating from 9-10:30 a.m., and the older group participating from 10:30 a.m.-noon each session.

Soccer

Children ages 4 through fifth grade may sign up for the YMCA's fall soccer program, with the first games to be played on or after Sept. 15.

Registration cost is $25 for members and $50 for nonmembers, and the deadline to register is Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. A late registration fee of $20 will be added from Aug. 26-31.

Teams will be split into age groups, with 4-year-olds-first graders in on group, and grades 2-5 in another.

Games will be played on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
