Daily events lead up to Day of Prayer

A series of daily prayer events, beginning this Sunday, will lead up to a breakfast on Thursday to observe the National Day of Prayer in Vandalia
The community kickoff for the five-day event is Sunday night at First Baptist Church. That service, which begins at 6:15 p.m., includes worship, a brief message and a time of prayer.
On the following three days, a brief time of prayer will be held at various locations around Vandalia. All of those events will run from 7:45-8 a.m. The locations are:
• Monday – Vandalia Chamber of Commerce building.
• Tuesday – Vandalia Community High School gym.
• Wednesday – Fayette County Courthouse.
The week's activities culminate with the National Day of Prayer breakfast on Thursday, which will be held from 7-8 a.m. at Crawford-Hale American Legion Home.
Tickets are $5, and can be purchased at the door or from several area churches.
Speaker for this year's breakfast will be the Rev. Doug Newton of Greenville Free Methodist Church.
For information, call First United Methodist Church at 283-3684. The events are sponsored by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance.
