Game dinner to raise archery funds
Nimrod Outdoor Ministries is hosting a free wild game dinner on March 27 at 6 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church.
The event will be a fundraiser for the youth archery ministry. Included will be door prizes, raffles and an auction. The grand prize is a new Diamond bow and tree stand package.
Dinner will be a free-will offering. All proceeds will be used for new equipment for the youth ministry program.

Lenten Luncheons
The Vandalia Ministerial Alliance's Lenten Luncheon series is under way.
The luncheons are held each Wednesday during Lent, beginning at noon and concluding by 1 p.m. They are held at a different church each week.
Next Wednesday's luncheon will be held at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church (283-0214). The speakers will be the Rev. Robert Weaver, the Rev. Robert Francisco and the Rev. Rodney Caswell. Participants are asked to make reservations at the host church.
St. James services now at 10:30 a.m.
Until the church finds a full-time replacement pastor, Sunday services at St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia will be held at 10:30 a.m.
The 10 a.m. services will resume when a new pastor is hired.

First Presbyterian starts Lenten series
The Rev. Kurt Simon of First Presbyterian Church is preaching a Lenten sermon series dealing with five difficult teachings of Jesus. Titled "Did Jesus Really Mean That?," the series runs through Easter.
