Family YMCA holds Board of Directors session at KC
On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus hosted the Fayette County Family YMCA Board of Directors Strategic Planning Session.
The Y has seen a substantial amount of membership growth in the past year since it moved into its new building on Rock Island. In the past, the Y’s goal was to have its own facility with all the amenities it has now. What is next for the Y? How will they continue to grow their membership, their programs and their facilities?
Executive Director John Ashdown indicated that there will be a few changes.
“These are exciting times for the YMCA. The Y-USA rebranded last year with a new logo and a more focused cause," he said. "When evaluating our current and prospective programs we now ensure they fall under one or more of three categories – for youth development, for healthy living or for social responsibility. This has helped our local organization ensure that we are focusing on things that will support the overall cause of the YMCA.”
Ruth Knous, a resource director from the Y-USA, facilitated the meeting with the following board members in attendance: Beth Hall, Steve Henna, Josh Henry, Jim Pryor, DeAnna Clark, Roy Garrett, Roger Grimmett, Frank Roeder, Mary Schulze, Mark Burnam, John Ericksen, Ron Morecraft, Amy Meyer and Rick Myers.
Staff members in attendance included: Ashdown (CEO/executive director), Amber Daulbaugh (program director) and Dee Hartz (office manager).
