Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. John Truitt of rural Shobonier will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Sunday.
John Truitt and Marilyn Meseke were married on June 17, 1962, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia.

Marilyn’s attendants were Lucille Mercier, Bernice Gehle and Patsy Meseke Coughlin, and Jody Meseke Osborne was the flower girl. Groomsmen were Carrol Kleinschmidt, Cliff Stabler and Harvey Meseke.
John is the son of the late Harry and Gladys Truitt. Marilyn is the daughter of the late Filbert and Dorothy Meseke.
John worked in management for Caterpillar for 32 years. He also served in the Navy for eight years, and finished his career in the service with the Illinois National Guard, retiring as a senior master sergeant.
Marilyn worked as an executive secretary for the Illinois Division of Highways in Elgin and the Greater Egypt Planning and Development Commission. She later decided to pursue a career in the art world, doing art shows and teaching. Now semi-retired, she has an art gallery, Marilyn’s Country Gallery, in her home.
