A Vandalia man has been charged with throwing the cell phone of a recently deceased man into the Kaskaskia River.
The office of Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison last Wednesday filed information charging Nicholas C. Slagle, 27, 1907 W. Fillmore St., with obstruction of justice and obstructing a peace officer.

• Robert K. Buckner, 41, Florissant, Mo., was arrested on April 9 for failure to appear in court. Bond was $2,000.

• Eddric T. Sessions, 48, Indianapolis, Ind., was arrested on April 2 on a charge of driving while his license is suspended or revoked. Bond was $1,500.
• Matthew W. Shaw, 47, 1926 W. Madison St., Vandalia, was arrested on April 1 on a charge of disorderly conduct. Bond was $1,500, and he was released at the order of a judge.
• Andrew C. Anderson, 24, Alamosa, Colo., was arrested on April 1 on a charge of retail theft. No bond information was listed.

• 4:02 p.m. – Officers arrested Travis Dutton, 36, of Vandalia, in the 200 block of North Kennedy Boulevard on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
• 8:18 p.m. – During a traffic stop at Veterans Avenue and Sunset Drive, officers arrested Richard Dutton, 56, of Altamont, on charges of driving while his license is revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Adena Eltzroth, 35, of Vandalia, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a hypodermic needle.
