Memories Made at Vandalia Summerfest

By Anna Garner

The Vandalia Summerfest just finished up its 3 day celebration this past Saturday at Vandalia Lake. The 3 day event included many activities, some being the Stars & Stripes Carnival which had many rides for kids as well as games for everyone to play, multiple different varieties of food trucks, volleyball, cardboard boat regatta, wild foam and music every night.

Every night the Freedom Stage which was sponsored by Peoples State Bank, had live music. Some of the acts included ScotteeRock Solo Show, Hairbanger’s Ball, Tribute, Neon Rodeo and Lady Liberty.

With so many different activities to do, it was fun for the whole family. On Thursday July 2nd, they hosted their annual firework show. With everyone lined up with snow cones and drinks at the lakes edge and boats sitting in the water, the beaming fireworks lit up the night sky. As the night came to a close we were able to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in a beautiful way.
