Mulberry Grove Village Board Purchases New Property

By Hannah Gaffner, Advocate News Staff

The board of Mulberry Grove Village came together to meet on Monday night, September 9th. At the meeting the board voted to approve the purchase of a new property. Out of the members present, all five there voted in acceptance of the buy. The property now spoken for from The Village is 106 West Wall Street in Mulberry.

Also taking place at the meeting was the approval of the following items:

  • August 5, 2024 regular meeting minutes.
  • Financial report.
  • Bills to be paid
  • Acceptance of police report

During the Mayor’s report, Mike Burlingame shared that the oil and chipping of streets

has been completed. Another accomplishment for The Village is the arrival of the no parking signs. The Mayor stated the main ones are done and they will be doing the other ones as they get time.

The other big topic addressed at the meeting was the possibility of two new investments for The Village: an automatic flush hydrant, and a water and sewer line locator. After discussing both of the possible new additions, the board decided to table the topic until the next meeting. The automatic flush hydrant would do just that: flush water automatically – thus saving time and labor costs. This purchase would be around $3,000. The locator would also save time and steps as it would locate where water and sewer lines may be. For example, if there is a water leak this instrument would inform a digger where the line is located. The cost for the locator would be around $5,000.

Mulberry Grove Village will hold their next meeting on October 7th.
