Annual Celebration Of Life To Be Held At Tom Doll Field

By Rebecca Sponsler, Advocate Editor

On September 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. the Annual Lemuel Rhodes Celebration of Life event will be held at the Tom Doll Soccer Field. Though the activities might have changed since this event first began in 1999, as the Relay for Life, the goal is still the same, spreading hope. Hope that one day a cancer diagnosis will be followed with, and here’s how we will get rid of it.

Lemuel Rhodes does a variety of things to help those, and their family, who are going through treatment. For example, if you meet the requirements you would be eligible for assistance in the form of IGA Gift Cards, Gas Cards, Rides from the Bond County Transit, and more. If you are outside the requirements you might also be eligible for $1000 in aid. Patti Brooks and Jane Wilhite, board members, told the advocate that 10% of what is raised is used to donate to cancer research.
