Students provided with school supplies at Back to School Celebration
By Rebecca Sponsler, Advocate Editor
The Greenville Women’s Alliance hosted the second annual Back to School Celebration at JC Park in Greenville. There were 358 students who were given free supplies, including backpacks, notebooks, and pencils; just to name a few. The supplies were collected through donations. Local business owners set up booths and games for the kids and families.
“We can still help people if they missed out on the event. They simply need to text me at 618-339-0834. I will need to know which Bond County school they attend and what grade(s). And the kid’s favorite color would be helpful so I can pick out a backpack they will like,” Said Joellen Vohlken.
Vohlken and her group had been geared up to provide supplies to 500 students. Contact Vohlken or the GWA to see about getting supplies for your student. The event was aimed at K-8 grades, however the GWA was able to furnish supplies to a some highschool students.
