County Board Discusses Southwestern Illinois Planning Commission

The Bond County Board met on August 7 in the Bond County Courthouse to conduct business after a presentation and discussion from Rebecca Kenison, Executive director of the Southwest Illinois Planning Commission. Kenison was there to discuss what the planning commission would be able to help the county with under their new management, and also discuss the back fees that the county owes to the planning commission.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minutes of the July 16, 2024 meeting were approved along with the bills and the County Clerks Report.
The board approved the use of the ARPA Funds to replace the radios for the Sheriff’s Department.
An individual has approached the county and asked if they could donate lots 16 and 17 in Keyesport Landing to Bond County. After a brief discussion, the matter was tabled.
Anna Oestreich, Rebecca Nehrt, and Dr. Tracy Hall were all appointed to the Board of Health to serve three-year terms set to expire on June 30, 2027.
Larry Martin was appointed to the Greenville Airport Authority Board to fulfill the 5-year term of Denny Willman, who resigned. Martin’s term will expire on April 2, 2029.
An opening on the ETS (911) Board was announced, and Jeremiah Campbell is being recommended for appointment.
An opening on the Bond County Board of Review was announced with Ron Shevlin being recommended for re-appointment.
The Sheriff for June 2024 and the Coroner’s report for July 2024 were both approved.
The next meeting will be August 20 at 7 p.m. at the Bond County Courthouse.
