By Mark Jurgena, Advocate Sports Staff

Saturday night’s main event at the Bond County Fair Grandstand was the annual demolition derby.

A total of 55 cars entered the demo and were spread into five divisions.

In the Limited Weld class, Travis Blevins of Pocahontas took top honors for the night.

“Got lucky and pulled off the win against good drivers and good cars,” said Blevins. “I want to thank the spectators that came to watch. Without them we couldn’t do the sport so come back out in September and support your favorite Derby drivers.”

Blake Klenke grabbed second prize with Matt Ogelsby of Pocahontas finishing third. Brandyn Easley was fourth and Jeremy Hudson of Sorento brought home fifth place.

The Bone Stock class saw Kent Berry of Carlyle take home the win with Derek Means and Kyle Smithton finishing in second and third place.

In the Modified Compacts, Eli Maples of Greenville was the winner with Emily Ulmer, Brandon Bingham, Ty Sexton and Chad Sexton all from Greenville took the next four finishes.

Brayden Huels of Pocahontas won the Gut & Go class with Stephen Schlaefer of Greenville and Dan Lattina of Pocahontas finishing second and third.
