Fayette County’s bicentennial is next year

Vandalia has a long and important history. The state and city have each celebrated a bicentennial year, and now coming in 2021, Vandalia will be celebrating the Fayette County bicentennial.
To celebrate this county’s bicentennial, the Fayette County Museum needs your help.
The staff needs your family history if you and/or your family members were raised in Fayette County.
They need to know where in Fayette County and information about that community.
The Fayette County Museum is planning to celebrate all of the communities that have ever been in the county, then and now. Please share any information you have about the various communities, towns, and villages.
The Historical Vandalia Inc. board members will organize the stories of each community, and they will be on display at the Fayette County Museum, 301 W. Main St. in Vandalia, during 2021.
Also, if you have any artifacts from that community you are willing to loan, let Historical Vandalia know.
The information is needed by June 1, 2020.
You may send it or deliver it to the Fayette County Museum, 301 W. Main St., Vandalia, Ill., 62471 or e-mail to [email protected].
For more information, call 283-4866, Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
