First-season deer totals are down this year

The harvest total in area counties for the first deer season are below those recorded in 2018.
In Fayette County, 1,004 deer were harvested during the first season, Nov. 22-24.
That compares to the 2018 total, 1,193.
For Bond County, this year’s total was 500, 83 below the 2018 first-season total.
In Effingham County, the first season total was 597; the 2018 figure was 773.
Montgomery County had 540 deer harvested in the first season, compared to 613 last year.
The statewide total for the first season was 50,173. Last year, the total was 58,836.
