Judge sets bond for McCammack at $1 million

Bond has been set at $1 million for the man charged last week with attempted first-degree murder.

Judge Kevin Parker set the bond for Trevor F. McCammack on Wednesday morning during McCammack’s first appearance in court with legal counsel.
McCammack, 33, was charged last week in information filed by the office of Fayette County State’s Attorney Joshua Morrison with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
The attempted murder charge alleges that on Sunday, McCammack “with the intent to commit the offense of first-degree murder, performed a substantial step toward the commission of that offense in that he, without lawful justification, and with the intent to kill, used a 9mm handgun to shoot (an individual) three times.”
That offense is a Class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
The aggravated battery charge alleges that McCammack “discharged a firearm and thereby caused bodily harm.” The aggravated battery charge is also a Class X felony.
The aggravated discharge of a firearm charge alleges that McCammack “knowingly discharged a firearm in the direction” of another individual. That charge is a Class 1 felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
McCammack, 33, was subdued last Monday morning, about six hours after a shooting in rural Shobonier was reported.
He was taken into custody after numerous law enforcement officers surrounded a cornfield along U.S. Route 51 at the Shobonier turn-off and then captured him with the use of the county’s K-9 unit after he fled across Route 51 into another cornfield.
The victim  was transported by RuralMed ambulance to Fayette County Hospital, then airlifted to a Springfield hospital.
