Feezel now tops wins list at St. Elmo; SEB edges MG
St. Elmo/Brownstown coach Greg Feezel became the wins leader among St. Elmo coaches as the Eagles edged Mulberry Grove, 57-56, last Friday.
Feezel picked up his 189th win, surpassing Dan Denton, who coached the Eagles to a third-place finish in the state tournament in the 1980s. Feezel was one of the players on that squad.
In Friday’s contest, the Eagles and Aces were tied at 40 entering the fourth quarter, and SEB outscored Mulberry Grove 17-16 in that quarter to eek out the win.
Jaxson Tish led the Eagles with 19 points, and Andy Goldsborough and Nate Philpot were also in double figures with 14 and 11, respectively.
Wyatt Criner led the Aces with 16 points and Courtlyn Latham and Kaleb Scoggins each had 14.

St. Elmo/Brownstown lost to Effingham St. Anthony, 65-40, in the National Trail Conference Tournament at Altamont on Tuesday.
Andy Goldsborough led the Eagles with 15 points and he also led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Eagles were down by one, 8-7, after one quarter, but St. Anthony exploded for 18 points in the second quarter to lead 26-12 at the half. The Bulldogs then outscored St. Elmo/Brownstown 39-27 in the second half.

Goldsborough scored 20 points and two others were also in double figures as the Eagles defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 62-44, in the opening round of the NTC Tourney on Monday.
St. Elmo/Brownstown were up 14-10 after one quarter and 30-25 at halftime, sealing the win with a 19-10 edge in the third quarter and a 13-8 advantage in the fourth.
Goldsborough pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Eagles in that category.
