Coroner handles two cases

After completion of an autopsy, the death of a rural Bluff City man last week has been ruled to be a result of a self-inflicted injury.
Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris, along with officers with Fayette County Sheriff’s Office deputies and state crime scene personnel, was called to the residence of Joseph Bergen, 56, north of Bluff City on Saturday afternoon.
Upon completion of an autopsy, Harris said, it was determined that Bergen has sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Thursday, Harris and the sheriff’s office responded to the residence of Ronald Lee Torbeck south of Bluff City after relatives reported that he had not show up for the family’s Thanksgiving meal.
Harris pronounced Torbeck, 70, dead at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday.
