Christmas Gala, Christmas Open House coming up at Vandalia Statehouse

The annual Christmas Gala and Christmas Open House at the Vandalia Statehouse have been set for Nov. 30 and Dec. 8.
The Christmas Gala, sponsored by the Vandalia Historical Society, is from 6-8:30 p.m. next Friday.
The event includes hors d’oeuvres, desserts, drinks and live music. Cocktail attire is suggested.
Tickets are $50 each, which includes this year’s edition of the Statehouse’s commemorative Christmas ornament.

The Christmas Open House is from 5-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.
While there is no admission charge, those attending are asked to take a non-perishable or canned food item for the local food pantry.
The first 100 families will receive a commemorative Christmas ornament.
Tours of the Statehouse will be available, and the Vandalia Historical Society is providing cookies, cider and hot chocolate.
Baroque Folk will be performing during the Christmas event.
For both events, the Statehouse will be decorated with a Christmas tree and in 1830s style.
