It’s on to the sectional

The Vandalia boys golf team advanced to the sectional tournament with a third-place finish on at the IHSA Regional at Timberlakes Golf Course in Staunton.

Hillsboro won the regional tournament with a 305 total, Raymond was second with 343 and Vandalia was third with a 351 team score.
Other team scores were: Litchfield, 358; Greenville, 359; Carlinville, 403; Pana, 432; Ramsey, 435; Mt. Olive 448; Carrollton, 451; and Staunton, 480.
Individually, Chase Laack led Vandalia with a 78, giving him third place.
Alex White of Hillsboro was the tournament medalist with a 69, and teammate Alex Eickhoff was second with a 75. Owen Mallow of Hillsboro and Riley Thompson of Sandoval shot 79s to tie for fifth place.
Other Vandalia scores were: Bryce Dunn, 89; Connor Satterthwaite, 92; Riley Ruckman, 92; Hunter Boren, 104; and Jacob Schaal, 112.
The VCHS boys finished the regular season with a 16-4 record after defeating Pana in a scramble last Thursday at the Vandalia Country & Golf Club.
Vandalia had a 115 total, and Pana had a 157 total.
The Vandals’ duo of Chase Laack and Bryce Dunn had the low score, 34.
Hunter Boren and Steven Lach shot a 38, and Cameron Withers and Evan Springman had a 43.
For the junior varsity, Connor Satterthwaite, Riley Ruckman and Jacob Schaal shot a 36, and Chase Konrad, Eli Beck and Lucas Harris had a 40.
Last Wednesday, Vandalia won a triangular match at Litchfield, defeating the host team and Staunton.
Vandalia won with a 175, while Litchfield had a 185 and Staunton had a 239.
Laack was the medalist with a 37.
Other Vandalia scores were: Dunn, 45; Schaal, 46; Ruckman, 47; Satterthwaite, 48; and Boren, 50.
