Vandalia 18U wins two, loses two over the past week

The Vandalia 18U team dropped a doubleheader to the host team at Robinson last Wednesday.
In the opener, Robinson scored four times in the fourth inning to record a 7-3 win in the five-inning contest.
Kyle Guffey took the loss, giving up four runs in an inning of work, striking out one, walking three and giving up four hits.
Caleb Slater pitched the first three innings, allowing three hits and three runs, striking out two and walking two.
Gabe Cox led the Vandals offensively, going 2-for-2 with two runs batted in.

In the nitecap, Robinson scored six times in the third inning on their way to a 12-4 win.
Garrett Austin took the loss, giving up 10 runs, six earned. He gave up just four hits, struck out three and walked eight.
Nolan White gave up a hit and two runs, struck out three and walked eight in one inning of work.
Thomas Ritchey was 2-for-3 and drove in two of the Vandals’ runs.

The Vandalia 18U squad improved to 4-6-2 on the season with two wins against Flora on Monday.
In the opener, Vandalia scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to edge Flora, 2-1.
Thomas Ritchey got the win, allowing just one hit while striking out four and walking one in three innings of work.
Blake Morrison pitched the final three innings, giving up three hits, a run and three walks while striking out five.
Mitchell Casey was 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the offense. Morrison was 2-for-3.

Johnny Lotz and Matthew Wells each went 3-for-4 in the second game as Vandalia pounded out 14 hits in a 12-1 win.
Caleb Slater held Flora hitless, struck out five and walked one in 3 1/3 innings to pick up the win. Wells allowed just one hit and struck out two in 2 2/3 innings.
