Vandals top Shells, lose to SCC champ
After trailing 4-3 after two innings, Vandalia scored four runs in the next three innings to defeat Roxana, 7-5, in a road game on Tuesday.
Garett McNary was 2-for-3 with three RBI’s and two runs scored, and Nathan Casey and Caleb Slater each added two hits to the Vandals’ offensive attack.
Garett Austin got the win, allowing five runs and six hits, striking out four and walking one in six innings of work.
Matthew Wells struck out three in the final inning to record a save.

Vandalia was held to just singles by Matthew Wells and Gabe Cox in a 13-0 loss to Staunton last Friday.
Staunton scored eight runs in the first inning and five more in the fourth to secure a five-inning win.
Cameron Gelsinger took the loss for Vandalia, giving up 13 hits and 13 runs (five earned), walking one batter.
