Haunted house opens Friday

This year’s edition of the haunted house provided by the Vandalia Swimming Pool staff makes its debut this weekend.

“Cell Block 81” is the theme for this year’s haunted house, which again is in the former Washington School building in the 300 block of South Eighth Street.
Admission is $6 per person, with all proceeds going to the pool.
The schedule for the haunted house is:
• Friday – 7-11 p.m.
• Saturday – 7-11 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 20 – 7-11 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 21 – 7-11 p.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 26 – After the Vandalia Lions Club Halloween Parade until 10:30 p.m.
• Friday, Oct. 27 – 7-11 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 28 – 8-11 p.m.

The Fayette County Fair Association is hosting a haunted house and costume contest this year.
The Halloween event will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in Brownstown.
