Death now investigated as a homicide

Several hours after press time on Wednesday, Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen announced that the death of a rural Brownstown man is now being investigated by his office and the Illinois State Police as a homicide.

James "Jim" Skinner, 56, of Brownstown, was found dead in his home on Sunday, and at that, Bowen said that the death was suspicious in nature.
