Bucky Burro Playing in the Sunshine
The recent rains had make Bucky Burro’s “yard” a bit muddy and, although he seemed to enjoy rolling and playing in the mud, he seemed really overjoyed to see the sun shining this week.
We saw him run from his barn and back, kicking up his heels and cavorting around his pen like a 2-year-old (which he really is). Lady, the senior mini-horse and, we suspect, Bucky’s “mentor”) just stood watched him, showing no inclination to join in the lively behavior.
An Incident with Katie, the Doggie…
… occurred last week when she slipped out of her pen door as Bill went in to feed her. Katie is a good little dog, but Bill was afraid she would run out on the road, so he grabbed her by her collar.
As she has never been grasped by the collar, we think it scared her and she wrapped her paws around Bill’s arms and scratched him.
He got her leash and she walked right along side him to her pen.
He washed the scratches good with antibiotic soap, applied Neosporin and bandaged the wounds.
She didn’t bite him, just scratched his arms, and we (actually me) thought her feet and nails would carry more bacteria than a bite, so we went to the doctor.
The nurses cleansed the wound good, applied more antibiotic ointment, bandaged it neatly, gave him a tetanus shot and told him to return to see the doctor on Monday.
By Monday, the wounds looked much better.
Katie is a good dog and she is not “in the doghouse.” In fact, I suspicion that Bill is giving her extra treats and taking her for walks … on her leash.
