Three area softball teams eliminated from postseason

Three area softball teams saw their seasons come to an end with losses in regional play.
The Lady Vandals closed out the year with a 15-1 loss to Pana on Monday at the Macon Meridian Regional. At the Altamont Regional on Tuesday, Ramsey lost to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 16-0, St. Elmo/Brownstown lost to Altamont, 9-8, with Altamont scoring the winning run in the ninth inning of the extra-inning contest.
Mulberry Grove was to face Marissa in the Mulberry Grove Regional and South Central was to play Clay City in the Woodlawn Regional, both on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Lady Vandals lost to Warrensburg-Latham, 15-0, and Sangamon Valley Tri-City, 13-1.
In the loss to Warrensburg-Latham, Lindsay Dagen, Kaitlyn Mills, Mikayla Ruot and Kati Ladner each had one hit.
Mills went the distance on the mound, giving up eight hits while striking out four and walking two.
In the loss to Sangamon Valley Tri-City, Vandalia was again held to four hits, two by Mills and one each by Emalee Hall and Kati Ladner.
Last Thursday, the Lady Vandals were held hitless in a five-inning contest at Gillespie.
Hall and Ruot reached based on walks for Vandalia.
Mills took the loss, allowing 16 hits and striking out five.

St. Elmo/Brownstown outscored Mulberry Grove 3-2 in the seventh inning to win a Friday contest at Mulberry Grove.

Oberlink got the win in going the distance, giving up 10 hits while striking out eight and walking nine.
