Lady Vandals drop SCC contest to Carlinville on Tuesday
Vandalia fell to Carlinville in South Central Conference softball on Tuesday, 27-1.
The Lady Vandals (1-21) committed 10 errors in the loss, seven in the second inning alone.
Kaitlyn Mills went 3-for-3 and scored the Lady Vandals’ lone run. Mills also shared pitching duties, going two innings, along with Molly Kern (two innings) and Kennedy Fiscus (one inning).
Mills struck out three, walked two, hit two batters and allowed five hits. Kern struck out two, walked two and gave up seven hits, and Fiscus recorded one strike out and gave up 11 hits.

Mills returned to the mound on Monday after missing two games due to injury and went the distance in Vandalia’s 5-0 loss to Litchfield. She struck out five, walked one and gave up just two hits.
Mills also went 2-for-3 with a double.

Hillsboro defeated the Lady Vandals, 18-1, last Thursday.
Fiscus took the loss, walking eight and giving up 10 hits in three innings. Kern struck out three, walked one and gave up five hits in two innings.

A one-run edge in the fifth inning gave St. Elmo/Brownstown an 11-10 win over Mulberry Grove on Tuesday.
Natalie Oberlink picked up the win, striking out five, walking three and giving up two hits in three runs in the final three innings. Marlee Nolen struck out two, walked one and allowed 10 hits and seven runs in the first four innings.
Makenzie Parkison was 4-for-4 with three runs, and Cassidy Moss, Oberlink and Sydney Moss each had three hits in four at-bats.

Oberlink allowed just two hits, struck out eight and walked two in picking up the win.

The Lady Eagles were held to singles by Cassidy Moss and Natalie Oberlink in the loss.
Oberlink took the loss, giving up five earned runs while striking out two and walking seven.
St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Ramsey, 13-3, in a home contest last Wednesday.
Tessa Philpot led the Lady Eagles with a 3-for-4 performance and three RBIs at the plate.
Marlee Nolen got the win, giving up eight hits while striking out three and walking two.
