Bombers go 2-0 at Wayne City Round Robin

Brownstown/St. Elmo was a perfect 2-0 at the Wayne City Round Robin on Saturday, defeating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 4-3, and Wayne City, 13-6.
In the win over CHBC, the Bombers scored once in the second inning, twice in the third and one in the fifth, then held off a late rally.
Dalton Denton got the win, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out 10 and walking five. Bryton Pruett got a save for BSE.
Isaac Maxey, Lewis Brown, Dalton Denton and Wade Ireland had the four BSE hits, with Maxey, Brown and Denton each knocking a two-bagger.
Denton and Strauch got RBIs for the Bombers.
The Bombers scored four runs in each of the first two innings on their way to a 13-6 win over Wayne City.
Nate Philpot got the win, giving up six runs and 10 hits, striking out three and walking two.
Philpot also went 4-for-5 at the plate, with a double and an RBI.
Caleb Atwood was 2-for-2 with 4 RBIs, Lewis Brown and Hunter Strauch each went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs, and Wade Ireland and Jeffrey Kelly each had an RBI.
Kelly and Dalton Denton each went 1-for-4.

South Central split at its Wooden Bat Tourney on Saturday, defeating Casey-Westfield, 13-7, and falling to Valmeyer, 10-7.
In the win, Casey-Westfield led 3-1 after one inning, but South Central scored four times in each of the next two innings to lead 9-5, then plated two runs in the sixth and seventh innings to secure the win.
Trent Geiler went 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored to lead South Central.
Logan Lotz got the win, giving up just one hit in 2 2/3 innings, coming in on relief of Cauy Blomberg, who gave up five hits and five runs while striking out one and walking five.

Valmeyer scored four times in the second inning and five more in the third to build up a 9-1 lead. South Central scored three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth, adding it final run in the sixth.
Both teams had 13 hits in the game.
Logan Lotz and Trent Geiler each drove in two runs for the Cougars, Lotz going 2-for-3 and Geiler 1-for-3. Trevor Markley, Hunter Brandt, Ryan Matheny and Cauy Blomberg each had two hits.
Matheny took the loss, giving up four runs, giving up six hits and striking out two. Markley gave up six hits and six runs, striking out four and walking one in three innings, and Lotz gave up one hit in one inning of work.

North Clay scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge South Central, 5-4, at Louisville on Tuesday.
South Central scored three times in the first inning and added its fourth run in the second before being held scoreless for the last five innings. North Clay scored once in the second and fifth innings before its scoring outburst in the final frame.
Trevor Markley took the loss for South Central, allowing the winning run on a walk-off home run. Also throwing for South Central were: Matheny, 5 1/3 innings, five hits, 2 runs, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts; and Grzegorek, 1 inning, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 1 strikeout.

Dieterich scored 14 runs in the final three innings of a six-inning contest on Tuesday to defeat Brownstown/St. Elmo, 17-7.
Lewis Brown again led the Bombers in hitting, going 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Dalton Denton was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Nate Philpot, Isaac Maxey and Hunter Strauch all had one hit, with Strauch and Wade Ireland each having one RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 14-0, in a contest at Centralia on Monday.
Lewis Brown got the win for the Bombers, striking out three and walking one in just one inning of work after BSE scored six runs in the first inning.
Brown also was 2-for-3 with a home run and five runs batted in, and Hunter Strauch was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
Dalton Denton had two doubles in four at-bats, Wade Ireland was 2-for-3. Caleb Atwood was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Jeffrey Kelly was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
