Brownstown/St. Elmo tops Pana, Cougars split on Saturday

Brownstown/St. Elmo outhit Pana, 8-7, and took advantage of three Panther errors to record a 10-7 win at Pana last Thursday.
Dalton Denton, Caleb Atwood, Wade Ireland and Jeffrey Kelly each had two RBIs for the Bombers, who improved to 2-6 on the season.
Bryton Pruett picked up the win, giving up seven hits and four runs while striking out three and walking two in 4 1/3 innings. Jeffrey Kelly struck out two in an inning of work to earn a save.

Carlyle took advantage of four errors in defeating South Central, 9-1, last Friday at Carlyle.
Ryan Matheny scored the lone South Central run, and he started on the mound for the Cougars, giving up one run on two hits and striking out two.
Logan Lots gave up five hits and five runs in one inning of work, and Trevor Markley and Cauy Blomberg finished up with two innings and one inning, respectively. Six of the nine Carlyle runs were earned.

South Central earned a split in two Saturday contests, defeating Johnston City and losing to Benton.
Hunter Brandt pitched a three-hitter in the 15-3 win over Johnston City, striking out six and walking four in 4 2/3 innings of work. Ryan Matheny closed out the game on the mound for South Central.
Caleb Harpster drove in four runs in a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run. Trent Geiler  had three runs batted in as he went 3-for-4.

Benton scored three runs in the eighth-inning to top South Central, 5-3, in an extra-inning contest.
Geiler took the loss, giving up seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking four. Matheny walked one in one inning of work.
Harpster was 3-for-4 and McCown was 2-for-3 for South Central.

South Central lost to Greenville, 6-1, in a home contest on Tuesday.
South Central was held to three hits, two singles by Geiler and a single by Markley.
Matheny took the loss, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two. Markley allowed two runs and three hits, striking out five and walking one, and Lots walked one in one inning of work.

Lewis Brown tossed a four-hitter for Brownstown/St. Elmo on Tuesday as the Bombers took advantage of four errors in defeating Cisne, 5-0, at Bob Page Field.
Brown struck out 12 and walked five in recording the win for BSE.
Nate Philpot was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Brown, Dalton Denton and Wade Ireland had the other Bomber RBIs.
Brown and Denton went 1-for-3, and Caleb Atwood was 1-for-2.
