Cannabis seized as part of traffic detail on I-70

With mutual aid assistance from a number of police agencies in the area, the Fayette County Sheriff’s office conducted a traffic safety campaign along Interstate last Wednesday.

Those arrested during the six-hour detail included:
• Juan Carlos Camos Taveras, 30, of Campton, Ohio, Heshimu Raheem Jones, 22, of Middleton, Ohio, and Cordell Lee Shelton, 18, of Morrow, Ohio – possession of cannabis and manufacture/delivery of cannabis, with 24.5 pounds of cannabis seized.
• Justin A. Sawitke, 21, of Colorado Springs, Colo. – aggravated battery of a peace officer, aggravated assault of a peace officer and possession of more than 30 grams of cannabis.
• Amy Lynn Brooks, 32, of St. Louis, Mo. – possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in court.
• John A. Greenwood, 26, of Litchfield – no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
• David Rojas Flores, 40, of Phoenix, Ariz. – driving while his license is suspended.
• Edward B. Davis, 55, of Wheeling, W.Va. – driving while his license is revoked.
• Tadd M. Carlin, 27, of Bolivar, N.Y. – driving while his license is suspended.
Agencies that assisted the sheriff’s office include the Illinois State Police, Illinois Commerce Commission Police, Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office, Vandalia Police, St. Elmo Police, Farina Police, Hillsboro Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Bond County Sheriff’s Office, Macon County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System.
