? The Vandalia Moose Lodge is holding its monthly chicken and fish dinner, at a cost of $8. The meal is open to the public.
? Bingo will be held at the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 Home. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 7 p.m. The kitchen will be open.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.
? A Cruise-In Night is being held from 5-10 p.m., weather permitting, at Embers Wood-Fired Pizza at 7 Mattes Ave. in Vandalia. It includes classic cars, live music and restaurant specials.
Saturday, Sept. 17

? Brownstown VFW Post 9770 is holding its annual Nine-Mile Gut Check, a walk/run starting at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Home in Vandalia and ending at the Brownstown VFW Post Home.
? Nimrod Outdoor Ministries will hold its sixth annual fall archery shoot at Unity Baptist Church at Ill. Route 185 and Airport Road in Vandalia. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the even runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. A donation of $5 is encouraged, but no one will be turned away. Lunch and a raffle are included.
? The National Road Association of Illinois will hold a dedication at 10 a.m. for the National Road kiosk in the city parking lot in the 400 block of West Gallatin Street.
? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE will hold its annual Bike Show and Family Fun Fest in downtown Vandalia. The bike show is from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with registration from 10 a.m.-noon and judging at 1 p.m., and an entry fee of $15 or $10 and small stuffed animal; it features seven classes, including trikes and women, has five choice awards and a people's choice award. The event include kids' bicycle show, food, live DJ, attendance drawing, and kids' games and activities.
? The Vandalia Wall Dogs Committee will hold a lunch stand from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., during the ABATE Fun Fest. The stand, at Lincoln Park in the 300 block of West Gallatin Street, will offer pulled pork barbecue, baked beans, bag of chips and bottles of water and soda.
? Pioneer Log Cabin Village Days are being held this on Saturday and on Sept. 24-25, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 25, at Ingram's Pioneer Log Cabin Village, 6260 Gesell Road, Kinmundy. Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for school-age children.
? The Fayette County Democrat Central Committee is holding its free chicken dinner at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Home in Vandalia. The public is invited, and the events includes speeches by Glenn Poshard and local Democratic candidates.

Monday, September 19

? The Vandalia Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The VFW Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Tuesday, September 20

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. in the district's administration center.

Wednesday, September 21

? Bingo returns at the Vandalia Moose Lodge, starting at 7 p.m., with Lightning at 5:30 p.m.

? The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association meets at 10:30 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia. All retired teachers in Fayette County are invited to attend. For more information, contact Diane Curll at 283-0492.
