Northern Michigan University
Dana Koerner graduated magna cum laude from Northern Michigan in May.

Four years ago, she graduated as co-valedictorian at Athens High School in a class of 80. She earned the Illinois State Band award in both her junior and senior years.
Her father, Kim Koerner, is a 1983 graduate of Vandalia Community High School and a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where he was in the college band. He is a systems analyst for LRS, one of Springfield’s largest computer companies. Her mother is an English teacher.
Her grandparents are Norm and Karen Koerner. Norm was a school counselor for Vandalia schools and the Okaw Area Vocational Center, and Karen was a legal secretary for attorney Jack Johnston for 28 years. They resided in Fayette County for 30 years, moving to Springfield in 2003.

EIU
The following area students graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston at the end of the spring semester:
• Dylan D. Woolsey of Fillmore, bachelor’s degree.
• Elizabeth H. Dowell of Mulberry Grove, bachelor’s degree.
• Mallory L. Lay of Ramsey, bachelor’s degree.
• Hannah N. Edwards of Vandalia, bachelor’s degree.
• Melissa C. Gibson of Vandalia, master’s degree.
• Brian Stout of Vandalia, bachelor’s degree.
The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester: Savannah R. Feezel of St. Elmo, and Kendall R. Leander and Dalton R. Nichols of Vandalia.

Millikin University
The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Millikin University in Decatur: Paige Ehrat of Shobonier, a senior; Austin Krueger of Vandalia, a senior; and Nicole Wells of Vandalia, a sophomore.

Lake Land College
Lake Land College in Mattoon held a dental hygiene pinning ceremony, with the following area students being among those honored: Bailee Coates of Ramsey and Shawna Graumenz of St. Peter.
