? Soroptimist International of Vandalia meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Retired Teachers will not meet on Sept. 24; their next meeting is on Oct. 22. Members are encouraged to attend the meeting of the Bond County Retired Teachers at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28 in the New Community Room at Greenville Regional Hospital. Dan Winter, a trustee with the Teachers' Retirement System will be the speaker. The cost of the meal is $9. Those planning to attend from Fayette County should RSVP with Diane Curll at 283-0942 by Wednesday, Sept. 22.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m. and the meeting is at 7 p.m.
? A NAR-ANON meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The group meets to: learn that drug abuse is an illness; encourage addicts to seek help; replace despair with hope; improve the family attitude; help individuals regain self-confidence.

? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 will hold bingo at the Legion Home in Vandalia.

Saturday, September 19

? Brownstown VFW Post 9770 will hold its second annual Gut Check march. Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Legion Home in Vandalia, and the march to Post 9770 begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $35 in advance and $40 the day of the event; the meal only is $15.
? The Central Illinois Foodbank will be in the parking lot of Pinnacle Foods in St. Elmo. Distribution begins at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Those picking up food are to take boxes or bags.
Sunday, September 20

? A chicken and pork dinner to raise funds for the maintenance of the American Legion Community Center in Farina will be held at the center, with serving to begin at 11 a.m.Carry-outs will be available.
? Historical Vandalia Inc. will hold its first Season of Entertainment fundraiser to help with the Fayette County Museum restoration at 2 p.m., Vandalia First United Methodist Church Wesley Hall. Ruth Cortwright of Decatur, a retired teacher, will give a program on “First Ladies of Our Land.” Refreshments will be served after the program. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $7:50 for students ages 6-18.

Monday, September 21

? The Women of the Moose will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The VFW Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.

Wednesday, Sept. 23

? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1-7 p.m. at Homestyle Creations, 1675 E. 900 Ave., St. Peter. Donors will receive a free doughnut.
? The Vandalia Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club.
