Meyer advances to state finals; 2 Vandals, 3 Patoka entries advance to state

Emma Meyer advanced to the state track and meet finals on Thursday, and her brother, Ethan Meyer, and Curtis Gordon advanced to the boys state track meet, also on Thursday.

Patoka also earned four entries at the state meet next weekend in Charleston.

Emma Meyer pole vaulted 10 feet to advance to the state finals on Friday at Eastern Illinois University.

She had also advanced to the state track meet in the 100-meter run, but withdrew from her heat.

Curtis Gordon advanced to the state meet in the pole vault, tying for third place at 14 feet, and in the 110-meter hurdles, with a winning time of 15.03 seconds.

As a team, the Vandals finished eighth at the sectional with 25 points.

For Patoka, Chase Riley advanced to state by winning both the 100-meter dash, at 11.11 seconds, and 200-meter dash, at 23.05, and Patoka's 4×200 relay team advanced by taking second place, at 1:33.70, .05 seconds behind winner Robinson
