? The Fayette County Retired Teachers will meet at 10:30 a.m. at Ponderosa Steakhouse. All retired teachers in Fayette County are invited.
? Evans Public Library's Homeschool Group meets from 1-2 p.m. Those interested in joining the group should call Shawna Sprague at the library, 283-2824.
? The Vandalia Park Districk Board meets in special session at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Okaw Area Vocational Center. The purpose of the meeting is a vote on the issuance of alternate revenue bonds.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m.

Friday, April 24

? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to Ninja Turtle stories and make Ninja Turtle slime. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824.
? The Vandalia Alumni Foundation is holding a Country Rhodes fish and barbecue dinner from 4-7 p.m. in the Vandalia Junior High School cafeteria. The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children age 11 and under.

Saturday, April 25

? The Fayette County Mobile Food Pantry will be in the parking lot of Pinnacle Foods at 10 a.m., supported by Pinnacle and the Fayette County Farm Bureau.
? The Family YMCA of Fayette County will hold Healthy Kids Day from 9 a.m.-noon. The free event will include storytelling, bounce houses, a water balloon toss, remote-controlled cars and other activities. Participating agencies include the Vandalia Police Department, Vandalia Fire Department, Fayette County Health Department, Evans Public Library, SAFE and the RC Club.
? Nadine of RFD TV will be at the Biggs Farm Hall, 1532 Highway 185, south of Brownstown on Ill. Route 185 and County Road 1525 East, at 7 p.m. Appearing with her are Steve Smith of the Gatlin Brothers Band and Teea Goans, with Keith Bilbrey as master of ceremonies.Tickets are available at the Brownstown Branch Library or by calling the library, 427-3853. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the show, and tickets in the back are available for half off.

Sunday, April 26

? The Fayette County Museum is hosting a book signing at 2 p.m. for Faye Watson, for her book, "Recipes from God."

Monday, April 27

? The "We Choose Health" Community Walk will continue to be held at Brownstown Elementary on Mondays when school is in session. Anyone who walks at least 20 minutes between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. may register to win monthly prizes of Subway Sandwiches.  In May, a drawing will be held for two adult bicycles. The Brownstown Elementary Gym will be used during inclement weather.  Donations to walk are not required, but any donations in March and April are designated for the Brownstown Golden Years Club.
? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 12:30-5:30 p.m. in the South Central High School gym. The SCHS student council is sponsoring the drive.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at America's Best Value Inn. The executive board meets at 5:15 p.m., and the meal and regular club meeting are at 6 p.m.
? The Fayette County Hospital District Board of Directors meets at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the hospital.

Tuesday, April 28

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? Rainbow Reflections, a grief support group, meets from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Miller at 292-5366.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. at the district's administration center.

Wednesday, April 29

? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a cowboy story time at 4 p.m. Children of all ages are invited.
