Lady Vandals have six firsts in Tuesday meet

Two members of the Vandalia girls track team won two events and were part of a relay team that recorded another first in a four-team meet at Hillsboro on Tuesday.
Emma Meyer won the pole vault at 10 feet and the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.9 seconds, and Anna Miller placed first in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.2 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles at 52.16 seconds.
Meyer and Miller also joined Madison Klanke and Jalea Paslay in the 4×100 relay to take first with a time of 53.3 seconds.
Paslay also won the 400-meter run with a time of 1:05, and Johanna Walton provided the sixth first-place finish in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.
The Lady Vandals also had four second-place finishes, three thirds and one fourth-place finish.
Taking second place were; Meyer, long jump, 14 feet, 1.5 inches; Olivia Marquardt 2:46 in the 800-meter run and 6:16 in the 1,600-meter run; and Karsyn Garrison, high jump, 4 feet, 8 inches.
Contributing third-place finishes were: Marquardt, discus, 64 feet, 2 inches; Garrison, 400-meter run, 1:15; and Klanke, 200-meter run, 29.4.
Finishing fourth was the 4×400 relay team of Kacey Elam, Garrison, Sydney Austin and Gabby Dossett, 5:28.2
Participating in the meet were Vandalia, Carlinville, Southwestern and Hillsboro.
