Members of Brownstown VFW Post 9770 showed off their new home to area residents during an open house and chili/soup supper on Saturday, March 14.
In the first photo, area residents enjoy the meal, participate in a raffle and just, in general, talk with others present. In the second photo, Don Smail of the post serves a cup of soup to one of the people attending the event. The third photo is the new post meeting room; on display is a German flag that post members found when cleaning out the former post home. The March 14 event, according to Post Commander Dan Frutiger, was a time "to thank the community for its support and to show them what is now available to the community for such things as parties and wedding receptions." There was no charge for the meal, but those attending could make donations. "If you want to eat for free, you can; if you want to make a donation, you can do that," Frutiger said.
