Friday, March 20

? The SCC Spring Carnival will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the Brownstown Elementary School cafeteria. The meal includes pulled barbecued pork, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, dessert and drinks; the cost is $6 per person and carry-outs are available. Armbands for carnival booths are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Saturday, March 21

? The finals of this year's Vandalia Idol competition will be held at 6 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church (formerly First Baptist Church).

Sunday, March 22

? Immanuel Lutheran Church, Augsburg Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League will hold their annual soup luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church parish hall. The menu includes chili or chicken noodle soup served with sandwiches (chicken salad, peanut butter or grilled hot dogs), a large variety of homemade desserts and beverages. The public is invited. Free-will donations will be accepted for the meal. The LWML is a recognized service organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouris Synod that promotes mission work through the U.S. and abroad.
? “High Priest Caiaphas” will be presented by Dr. Kevin Childers of Vandalia at 2 p.m. in the Vandalia First United Methodist Church Wesley Fellowship Hall. This is the final 2014-15 Season of Entertainment event presented by the Fayette County Museum, Vandalia. Tickets at the door are $15. They can be bought ahead of time for $13 at the Fayette County Museum, which is open from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Tickets for youth under the age of 18 are half price at the door or at the museum.

Monday, March 23

? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. at the Country Store on the Shobonier-St. Peter blacktop. Donors are required to present a photo ID.
? The "We Choose Health" Community Walk will continue to be held at Brownstown Elementary on Mondays when school is in session. Anyone who walks at least 20 minutes between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. may register to win monthly prizes of Subway Sandwiches.  In May, a drawing will be held for two adult bicycles. The Brownstown Elementary Gym will be used during inclement weather.  Donations to walk are not required, but any donations in March and April are designated for the Brownstown Golden Years Club.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at America's Best Value Inn. The executive board meets at 5:15 p.m., and the dinner and club meeting are at 6 p.m.
? The Fayette County Hospital District Board of Trustees meets at 7:30 p.m. in the FCH conference room.

Tuesday, March 24

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? Rainbow Reflections, a grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Miller, 292-5366.

Wednesday, March 25

? The Vandalia Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club.
