Two I-70 projects slated to begin next Monday

Believe it or not, spring is just around the corner.
But, in addition to warmer weather, the arrival of spring also signifies the start of road construction season.
Two projects along Interstate 70 in Fayette County are scheduled to get underway soon, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The first is the improvement of I-70 from milepost 62, a mile east of Vandalia’s eastern exit, to milepost 64.
That improvement project is slated to begin on Monday and be completed by Nov. 16.
Also scheduled to get underway are improvements to Interstate 70 near St. Elmo, from milepost 74 to milepost 82.
That construction project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 13, according to IDOT.
During the construction work, the Illinois Department of Transportation said, motorists should “expect lane restrictions.”
IDOT officials remind motorists to obey posted speed limits, watch for flaggers and to not use cell phones for calling or textings while driving through work zones.
