Ramsey stuns top seed SEB in opener

ST. ELMO — Ramsey looked nothing like an eighth seed.
The St. Elmo Holiday Tournament began with an upset, as the Ramsey Rams stunned the No. 1-seeded tourney hosts, handing St. Elmo/Brownstown a 56-53 loss on Tuesday night.
Ramsey's Kyle Adermann hit a three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to give the Rams the upset victory.
The game saw the Rams race out to a big early lead, only to see the Eagles claw back into the game with a big third quarter.
Everything went the Rams' way early, as the lowest seed in the tourney was clicking on all cylinders, shooting well from the perimeter and playing intense defense.

Ramsey had a 20-6 lead in the first quarter, as the tourney hosts were out of sync offensively, turning the ball over seven times in the opening frame alone.
The Eagles outscored the Rams, 15-13, in the second period. By the break, Ramsey was up by double figures, 33-23.
St. Elmo/Brownstown got back into the game with a solid third period.
The Eagles outscored the Rams, 21-12, in the frame, cutting Ramsey's lead to one, 45-44, entering the fourth quarter. SEB hit four three-pointers in the period.
The back-and-forth final frame was close all the way, and the game was tied at 53. Adermann hit a three-pointer for the Rams with only 1.8 seconds left to push Ramsey in front.
SEB was unable to score and Ramsey got the win.
Ramsey edged the Eagles, 11-9, in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Brady Black scored 14 points to lead Ramsey, while Adermann had 10. Everyone got into the act for Ramsey, as Carson Thomas scored nine, Michael Camez had eight, Brady Reiss scored seven and Michael Lay chipped in six.
Ramsey won despite playing without Carter Hunt and Adam Casey.
Brock Oberlink scored 15 points to lead the Eagles. Klayton Kroll had 10, Noah Flowers scored nine and Malachi Maxey added eight points for SEB.

CH beats BC
Cowden-Herrick beat Beecher City, 52-42, in the second game on Tuesday night.
Colton Burrus scored 23 points for CH.
