Election filing begins Monday

The filing period for candidates who wish to take part in the April 7, 2015, Consolidated Election is Dec. 15-22.
This election includes all municipalities, school boards, park districts, library districts and fire districts that elect representatives.
All candidates with the exception of school board candidates are required to file petitions with their respective units of government.
School board candidates are required to file petitions in the office of the county clerk.
This is a change from previous elections, when school board candidates filed in the school unit office.
A Statement of Economic Interest receipt is to be filed with petitions. This statement is to be filed with the county clerk’s office before the filing of a petition in order for a candidate to be able to file the receipt with their petition.
Candidates should call their unit of government or the office of County Clerk Vicky Conder with any questions concerning filing requirements or go to the State Board of Elections website www.elections.il.gov/ to review the 2015 Candidate’s Guide.
Filing runs Dec. 15-22, and on Dec. 22, the county clerk’s office, located on the first floor of the Fayette County Courthouse, will be open until 5 p.m.
