Fourth fuNFest is this Saturday
The fourth annual Jordan fuNFest is being held this Saturday at Gatch Lake from noon-6 p.m.
The event is being held to raise funds for the fight against neurofibromatosis, a highly variable, complicated and progressive genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow anywhere in the body at any time.
Jordan Walk, daughter of Brian and Amanda Walk, was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis in March 2010.
She has an optic nerve glioma (a tumor directly behind the eye). It is currently stable and has been for four years, and is closely monitored through eye exams.
“It is because of Jordan and other children and adults like her affected by NF that we are motivated to host our fourth annual event,” Amanda Walk said.
Their goal is to assist the medical community in finding a cure for this disorder.
Last year, the event raised $18,248.83, and in the past year years, about $68,000 has been raised.
The fuNFest includes bingo, kids’ games, inflatables, face-painting, silent and live auctions, gun raffles, a bake sale and cow patty bingo, with 250 tickets sold for a chance to win $1,000.
