Healthy heart workshop
The University of Illinois Extension Center, in partnership with Kaskaskia College, is offering a two-day “Meals for a Healthy Heart” workshop on Monday and Wednesday, June 23 and 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Vandalia Campus.
The course number is COED-8091-VA01E. All students pay a $20 registration fee.
Coronary heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States and a leading cause of serious disability. This two-part series focuses on increasing participant awareness of the risk factors of CHD; hypertension; high blood cholesterol; and other warning signs.
It will focus on heart healthy foods, menu planning, low sodium strategies, healthy eating away from home, omega 3/fish oil, dietary fiber, antioxidants, a healthy pantry, etc.
Activity levels and weight management information on keeping your heart in good condition, as well as food demonstrations, taste testing and recipes, are provided at each session.

Coupon class is this Friday
The Kaskaskia College Office of Continuing/Community Education will offer an “Extreme Couponing” class at the Vandalia Campus from 5-9 p.m. this Friday.
The registration number for the class is COED-8058-VA02W.
This course will educate students on how to find coupons and use them for savings. Students will receive knowledge of the different types of coupons, including newspaper inserts, online coupons and digital coupons, and how to find coupons sales.
After the completion of the course, students will be able to successfully save money at the grocery store, restaurants and retail stores, and online. The cost is $15, but students over 60 may register at no cost.
